The Best Christmas Light Displays in Arizona
- Winter Wonderland Arizona
Winter Wonderland Arizona offers one of the brightest and boldest displays in town. Located in Scottsdale, Winter Wonderland Arizona features a whopping 250,000 Christmas lights, which are perfectly synced and choreographed to music.
Christmas enthusiasts can visit the display every night from December 1st-31st from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. It’s free to the public, though donations are encouraged and accepted.
- ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo
ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo is one of the most popular Christmas light displays in the Copper State every year. In addition to millions of lights, ZooLights includes a 200-foot-long Polar Slide, live reindeer, a 4-D Theater and Stingray Bay.
ZooLights runs every night from November 21st through January 13th from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. The Phoenix Zoo is located at 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix.
3. Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Anthem Outlets
The tallest Christmas tree in the United States is located right here in Arizona. Every year the Anthem Outlet Stores host the Christmas Tree Lighting at Anthem Outlets. Live music and holiday treats are available during the annual November ceremony. After the flip is switched, the tree stays illuminated throughout every night of the holiday season.
- Fountain Hills Stroll in the Glow
Fountain Hills is the site of one of the best Christmas displays in Arizona. The Stroll in the Glow Festival features over 65,000 lights on the Avenue of Fountains. The festival takes place the first Saturday in December and holiday-themed snacks, live music in the streets and a live nativity scene are just part of the festivities. The event is also visited by Santa Claus in a fire truck.
The festival is free to attend.
- Christmas at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
The Fairmont Princess Resort in Scottsdale boasts one of the biggest holiday parties in the desert. The display is headlined by an ice-skating rink surrounded by a cactus garden. More than 100 lit up trees and 1.6 million lights are also on display. The singing Christmas tree is four stories tall and illuminated with over 65,000 lights.
- North Pole Experience in Flagstaff
If you’re looking for one of the best Christmas displays in Arizona for the entire family, then the North Pole Experience in Flagstaff is for you. A light display outside the experience sets the holiday mood. Children can then tour Santa’s workshop, visit with the elves and say hello to Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The display is located at the Little America Hotel. Admission ranges from $34 to $38. The outdoor light display is free to enjoy.
- Zoo Lights at Reid Park Zoo
You don’t have to live in Phoenix to enjoy Christmas lights at the Zoo. Reid Park Zoo in Tucson hosts its every own Zoo Lights event every year. Along with thousands of lights, visitors can enjoy falling snow, live music, carousel rides and pictures with Santa Claus himself. There’s also hot cocoa, cinnamon rolls and a s’mores station!
Zoo Lights at Reid Park Zoo runs from December 7th through December 30th. The zoo is located at 3400 Zoo Court in Tucson.
- Glendale Glitters
The Glendale Glitters event turns the town into a Christmas light paradise. Over a million LED lights illuminate 16 blocks in downtown Glendale. The festival also features fireworks, horse-drawn carriage rides, live music and dozens of activities.
Glendale Glitters begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs until January 12th, when the festival closes with the Glendale Glitter & Glow event.
- WildLights at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary
Prescott is the site of the next stop on our list of the best Christmas light displays in Arizona. WildLights at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary is an annual tradition in town. Rated as one of the best Christmas displays in the entire state every year, WildLights features brilliant holiday decorations, music and, of course, lights. You can also enjoy seasonal concessions as you stroll through the display, such as hot cocoa and coffee.
WildLights is open to the public every Friday and Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 beginning November 23rd. It runs through December 29th.
- Las Noches de las Luminarias
Las Noches de las Luminarias is a southwestern holiday tradition unlike any other. The event takes place at the Desert Botanical Garden and includes more than 8,000 hand-lit luminaria bags. There’s live entertainment accompanying the incredible landscape every night. You can also enjoy a meal or a bottle of wine at the Patio Café.
With the exception Christmas Eve, Las Noches de las Luminarias runs every night in December from 5:30-9:30. The Desert Botanical Garden is located at 1201 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix.
