#5 – The Gauntlet at Golfland in Mesa

Every October, Golfland-Sunsplash transforms from a popular playcenter to the devil’s playground. The Gauntlet at Golfland presents patrons, who are now dubbed “victims”, with panic around every corner. This fear factory provides more motion sensors than any other haunted house in town. And if that’s not enough, their “actors” will have you heading for safer hills.

If you can’t make it to The Gauntlet, Golfland-Sunsplash offers “Spooktacular Golf” every night in October.

#4 – The House on Camino

This two-story home in a quiet neighborhood in east Mesa may appear rather innocent, but it is anything but. Pay a visit to 4055 East El Camino Street in late October, and you’re guaranteed to experience the best haunted houses have to offer. Ghosts, skeletons and the undead are just some of the inhabitants of this ghoulish garage.

#3 – Scarizona Scaregrounds

Scarizona Scaregrounds bills itself as Phoenix’s premier haunted house. The scaregrounds feature four different attractions at a single location. The themes include “Startled Darkness”, “Epic Fear”, “Slayer’s Slaughter House”, and “Operation Zombie Storm”, which includes paintball. You can experience a single attraction for just over $20.00, or visit all four for just under $40.00.

Scarizona Scaregrounds is located at 1901 N. Alma School Rd. in Scottsdale. It’s open every night in October, with the exception of the 22nd, at 7:00 p.m.

#2 – AZ Fields of Screams in Glendale

Our next creepy locale is the colossal cornfields of Tolmachoff Farms in Glendale. The AZ Field of Screams delivers what its name suggests. Sinister clowns, bloodied barbarians and other undead demons greet you throughout your six-acre trek. If that’s not enough to get your heart rate going, its damp, dark and disorienting maze will certainly do the trick.

The AZ Field of Screams is located at 5726 N. 75th Ave. It’s open Friday and Saturday from 7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. It’s also open on Halloween night.

For those seeking the most frightening experience in the Phoenix-metro area, the 13^th Floor Haunted House is a must-visit. The “fun” starts before you even enter the sadistic structure, as disfigured and dismembered demons haunt and taunt you while you wait in line. Once inside, two terrifying options await: the maze-graveyard known as Ancient Evil, as well as Zombieland: Biohazard, where running for your life while being chased by the scores of mutation mistakes is your only means of survival.
